Add Jam Widget to Control Center

What it does: Adds a strawberry button to your Control Center that immediately starts a Jam recording. Why it’s useful: Control Center is accessible from anywhere on iOS. Perfect for capturing critical moments without switching contexts. Setup steps:

Open Control Center

Swipe down from the top-right corner (or up from the bottom on older devices).

Enter edit mode

Long-press on any empty space in Control Center.

Add a Control

Tap Add a Control (plus button).

Add Jam

Find Jam and tap the + button.

Confirm the shortcut

The strawberry icon now appears in your Control Center.
To use: Swipe down from the top-right corner (or up from the bottom on older devices), tap the strawberry button, then tap Start Broadcast to begin recording.

Hey Siri, Record a Jam

What it does: Voice-activated shortcut that opens Jam’s recording screen. Why it’s useful: Hands-free activation when you’re mid-workflow or demonstrating an issue to someone else. Setup steps:

Trigger Siri

Say “Hey Siri, Record a Jam”.

Allow permission on first use

iOS will ask for permission the first time. Tap Allow.

Open the recording screen

Jam opens to the recording screen.

Start recording

Tap Start Broadcast to begin.
To use: Say “Hey Siri, Record a Jam” anytime. Works even when your phone is locked.

Add Jam Widget to Homescreen

What it does: Places a widget on your homescreen to start and stop recordings without opening the app. Why it’s useful: Essential for dedicated test devices where you’re constantly switching between recording and testing. Keeps Jam controls visible and accessible. Setup steps:

Enter edit mode

Long-press any empty area on your homescreen.

Open the widget picker

Tap the + button in the top-left corner.

Find Jam

Search for Jam and select it.

Choose a size

Pick Small or Medium.

Add and position the widget

Tap Add Widget, then move it where it’s convenient.
To use: Tap the widget, then tap Start Broadcast to begin recording.

Record a Jam with your Action Button

What it does: Associate the “Record a Jam” shortcut with your Action Button. Why it’s useful: Record a Jam with one button press, from any screen. Setup steps:

Open iOS Settings

Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.

Find Action Button settings

Search for action button.

Assign the Record a Jam shortcut

Associate the Action Button with the Record a Jam shortcut.
To use: Press the Action Button, then tap Start Broadcast to begin recording.
